Koronaviruset har vært veldig tøff for Málaga-provinsens foretak. De siste tallene fra spansk statistikk (INE) viser at nesten 11.000 selskap har lukket dørene for godt i løpet av 2020. Det tilsvarer 24 prosent av samtlige virksomheter. Stengningen gjelder alle typer bedrifter og langs hele Costa del Sol. 

I motsetning står enkeltpersonforetak bedre imot krisen. I Málaga-provinsen var det for akkurat et år siden registrert nesten 116.000 autónomos. I dag er 87 prosent av dem fortsatt aktive.
