Som et av de første land i Europa, innførte Spania euroen i 2002 for nesten 20 år tilbake. Ikke desto mindre har det spanske folket oppbevart en formue av den gamle valutaen – tilsvarende 1.600 millioner euro! Men 2021 vil være det siste året hvor spanjolene kan veksle inn deres elskede pesetas, Spanias offisielle valuta siden 1868. Folk kan veksle deres gamle beholdning til euro i Banco de España inntil den 30. juni. Etter denne datoen har den gamle valutaen ingen pengeverdi. Kanskje en del vil beholde noen av de gamle myntene under madrassen – i tilfelle, eller som spanierne sier «por si»?
